Blogging & Squeals

I'm learning a little more each day about blogging and thanks to Michaele, I can now insert pictures without using all my space. (YEAH!) And. . . I can blog ahead & schedule the posts so that when I'm busy, or the kids don't have synchronized naps, or they just need more of a mommy day, I can not feel so guilty about keeping you up to date about our lives by posting that day. I'm also going to try to figure out how to change pictures and add some to the sidebars without making it bogged down and hard to load.

The boys & I went on a Thomas the Train treasure hunt yesterday (MUCH more on that later) and that occupied most of the evening. Shawn also helped me make two batches of homemade bread- one was raisen bread & the other was whole wheat for bread & to make beirocks as well. About 7pm last night they were just coming out of the oven and were incredibly tasty! Unfortunately, I was out of energy at the time, so the floor will get mopped up today as there is still specs of flour on it and bread crumbs from hungry little boys.

Malachi has really found his voice lately and has started talking and squealing. I'm pretty sure it's about the most adorable thing ever! (And not just because I'm a tad biased! LOL!) He has his low voice in the mornings when he's hungry and I can't get his bottle fast enough. And then he has his squealing voice where it sounds like he's trying to giggle (which is also adorable when he gets going laughing). It is just amazing how simple his life is and how incredibly happy he is. I learn so much from him.

Yesterday was interesting as Malachi would not talk to me all day. He smiled plenty, but I couldn't get a conversation going at all! Then, as I was feeding him his bottle in the afternoon, Shawn walked in the door and said hi to me and Malachi's head wipped around so fast it was funny. Then he was just all talk with Shawn, blah, blah, blah. . . . and the squeals also started to let loose. He's definitely going to be a daddy's boy, maybe a bit more than the others have been.

Malachi's also becoming a blankie baby like Zachary was. (Logan had more of an attachment with stuffed animals- especially those darn teddy bears.) It's fine that he loves his blankies (right now, not any one in particular more than the other) but it's getting to be a bit scary in the mornings when I go to check on him and he's pulled his blankie over his head. I guess he likes the darkness for sleeping just like his daddy. Shawn always sleeps with a pillow or thick blanket over his head, even though I've worried that he might suffocate.

The boys (all 3) are going to Grandma's tonight since I have a class tomorrow down at Emporia. It will be my first night away from Malachi. I hope he does alright. Also, Shawn got his trip planned for Chicago and will be leaving Sunday evening until Friday. Next week looks to be a VERY long week without him. He helps so much in the evenings. We thought about me going with him, but decided that might be a little too long to be away from the boys.
