Birthday Party

Zachary's birthday party went well, I think. . . I mean, it will definitely be memorable. I am not a huge party-person. I enjoy socializing, but I'm not the type to direct a party, so I'm very thankful it's done and over with. We had a big meal that I think went over quite well. It was a bar-b-que with some home-grown veggies & most of Zachary's favorite foods. As mentioned in previous posts, the threat of severe weather sent most of our guests scattering, so we had a quick party, but I still think he had an enjoyable day.

Aunt Laurie made the cakes with the help of her daughters. They looked & tasted great & I definitely could not have done quite as well designing them. When Zachary blew out his candles, he made a wish that he 'would never get lost again.' Wondering what he meant by that, he said that the past week, while he'd been at Aunt Laurie's, he was lost without me. (Ah. . . pull on the heartstrings!)

Now, it's the daunting task of helping him get thank-yous written without completely pulling my hair out! And as easy as it would be to just skip that part, as many do these days, I feel that it is rude to not acknowledge the giver with a proper thank-you. But, I won't get on my soap box about that right now. Maybe a later post! :)

Also, as expected, fights are starting between the boys over the new toys. It's so tempting to just take the toy from the brother rather than ask politely and be denied.
