Ahhhh . . . the blur

In the blur of the past weekend, I had quite a few interesting/funny moments. One, on the ride up to Kansas City, my husband asked about 'our' blog. You see, we did start this as an idea that we could do together to keep both of our family & friends updated and maybe have more narration than just me. However, he's not as grammatical and as well versed at putting things as I am and so, he lets me do the blogging.

Second, being in charge of the blogging has created a bit of a narration and sayings to play in my head (yes, I am now starting to 'hear' things!). :) I find myself asking if this would be a good blog entry? Or, "how would I word this?" I'm also working on photography, (Lord help me) so that my photos are not as home-style as they are right now. Although, they will be no where near professional as my cousins (see Teresa Reed Photography), I am hoping that they will be a little more pleasing to the eye than just plain snapshots. We'll see how much time I want to invest in that! :)

During our visit to Kansas City, we visited the Deanna Rose Farmstead. It is a great place to go for a day outing & the best part is that it is FREE!!! :) Of course, there are charges for the worms to go fishing or if you want to allow the kids to ride the pony, but the rest of the 'experience' is free. One of my cousins referred us to the place while we were up in KC for a hospital visit with Logan. She said it would be a great place to visit in between hospital appointments or something to keep Logan's mind off of everything going on. And, while I grew up on a farm and it's all second-hat for me, it still is a very enjoyable experience and has so much to do for the kids. There are plenty of farm animals, beautiful flowers & plants, a nature trail in what feels like a jungle, fishing, riding play tractors, a playground, and a petting zoo.

Of course, this is the middle of July & temperatures here in KS are giving us no relief, so it was very HOT & Malachi & I pretty much found every shade tree possible while the others 'experienced' the park, but otherwise, it was an enjoyable afternoon. We did sit through a short little movie about dairy cows so that we could enjoy the air conditioning & cool off a bit.

Shawn & Brendan having a water-filling contest. Brendan gave up, so I guess that means Shawn won! :)

Logan tried to do it, but it was a little too tall for him.

First fish of the day- Logan was a little scared to get close to it and I had to zoom in for this pic since Malachi & I were camping under a shade tree. I was hoping I got the fish in the picture!

Can't resist an adorable picture of my baby smiling!
Photobucket
Blurry, yes, as I had to zoom in again & (not to point fingers for blame) I was holding Malachi who wiggled as I took this.

Jarin didn't want to touch the fish either. Quite humorous actually. Some bystanders actually stopped to watch her try to learn to let it loose.

Logan was trying to get his hand stuck getting some more fish food.

Don't worry, I'm watching Logan as the rest of them are fishing, which was supposed to be the activity to do with Logan. He learned that the fish liked the pellets more than the worms & would jump out of the water when he threw them in.

Feeing the baby goats a bottle- Can you tell we were hot?
