The best news of today is that I MADE IT THROUGH A DAY TEACHING!!!! That in itself is a great accomplishment for me.
Last night, I was awakened at around 1am abruptly with SVT. Hoping it would go away quickly, and let me get back to sleep before a LONG work day ahead, didn't help. I finally got up at around 2am and took some medicine and around 3-3:30amish I finally was comfortably snoozing away, just in time for my 5:45am alarm to annoy me. The amount of Toprol I'm on is making me MISERABLE!!!! I just want to have a pity party sometimes and right now, I'm having a wonderful love/hate relationship with this awful/wonderful medicine! I love the fact that it helps me breathe and go about a semi-normal life, but I can't stand the awful side effects of getting used to being on 150-175mg of it!!!! Painfully dry eyes that yearn for a nap or to be closed indefinitely, a dizziness that is almost disorienting and dangerous, a headache that goes on every day, all day with a little numbing for my friend Aleve, incredibly vivid and strange dreams (such as the one last night of renting out my old apartment in Emporia and then going to my grandma's and drinking gravel!!!!???) and a shaky, tired, run over by a semi but can still breathe feeling. I'd like to add a few more pros to the list, but as you can see the cons right now are outweighing the benefits.
And, many are asking. . . am I eating, is this a symptom or a result of my eating disorder (long in the past)??? Yes!!! I EAT frequently and as healthily as I can, although we do like cooking with our butter! :) No, SVT is NOT a symptom or side effect of having anorexia in the past. I am wondering though if it was actually the "heart trouble" I was having during those years, but not going to dwell on the past. I'd actually like to start focusing on the future and how wonderful it will feel once this icky SVT spell is done and conquered. I know it should subside soon and am trying very hard to kick it, but am not sure what is causing it. Like, when it just suddenly comes on in the middle of the night????? I have no idea what triggered it. I'm frustrated right now at how much SVT is kicking my behind and getting the best of me and am trying to stay determined to stay positive and hopeful. I just get so excited being 2 days free of it and then, BAM- in the middle of the night, nothing I did causing it, I ruin my SVT-free streak! URGH!!!
Finally, here is a scanned copy of my heart monitor results. Its scanned, so low quality, but you can kinda see how for the ENTIRE day, my heart rate:
The pink arrow is the line of 100 bpm (beats per minute) 100 or lower is normal for an adult. The green arrow shows you when I woke up and it jumped immediately up to 158 bpm just walking to the kitchen! You can see that most of the day then, I was up and down, over 100 bpm, but was resting/napping most of that day!
By no means is this the worst case of SVT there is or I've had and by no means is this meant to prove anything besides how incredibly tired I am! (okay, maybe not, but I am very very very very tired) Just having tachycardia for a few hours is exhausting let alone almost an entire day!
