Today-sunny, cheerful, warmer, happy, wonderful, terrific, fabulous, good-news-type-of day
Shawn and I both had doctor's appointments today. First of all, this morning, my long awaited appointment went GREAT!!!! The doctor did confirm POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) which could run into some complications in the long run (later in life) but we are set with a game plan to try 'water-therapy' to try drinking TONS of waters (ok, maybe not that much) to rise my blood volume to help with the auto-nervous system functioning. I will also continue to eat more salt in my diet and maintain the medicine regimin that I'm currently on. Right now, we're just changing the 'add lots of water' to my normal life. The doctor also strongly hinted that an ablation was a ridiculous decision on the part of Dr. Val (although technically he didn't actually SAY that). So, thankfully no more ablations in the future. I go back in 2 months for a check-up to re-evaluate symptoms and stats. At that time, if things have not improved we will be looking at adding another medicine and also checking out the pectus more in-depth (right now that's the last thing we want).
I appreciate the prayers and would appreciate them as I continue to struggle with POTS and learn how to cope as best I can. It seems as if I've had it for so long it is going to take a bit longer to "get out of the hole" of its awful grip. So, I'm excited to have hope that my strength and energy will hopefully return sooner than later.
As for Shawn- well, he had major jaw spasms and pain yesterday and all last night. Finally this morning he called the dr. Well, I googled it and found tetanus everywhere online. Then, we told the dr that he just had a tetanus shot at his appointment last week, so weren't sure if this was a side-effect. They weren't sure either, so had him come in for an evaluation. We were nervous all day about what it could be, but it ended up NOT being tetanus (thank God) and just some sort of random nerve misfiring that is very painful.
The boys were reading books yesterday, but today, they're outside running around and enjoying the beautiful weather.
And as spring arrives, the Canadian geese have been flying over more. Logan exclaimed the other day- "look at those beautiful Chinese geese!"
