Friday night, he had 'issues' where he was cramping up and screaming. We tried some things that would work on a normal child, but it didn't phase him at all. Saturday, he woke up early, still in a LOT of pain and would have spurts where he'd play and then he'd start cramping again and so we tried some more things with him, to no avail. Saturday night, we were incredibly desparate for anything that could make him feel better, so we tried mineral oil. Several people told us it was a fast & tried-true remedy, yet NOTHING happened! And this whole time, Logan was trying to hold his pain from us. While he'd be screaming or grimacing throughout the day, if he saw us look at him, he'd immediately stop and get a fake smile on his face and say, "I better now."
I think it's taking it's toll pychologically as well as physically with him. He now realizes what is going on and has a helplessness that I can't bear to watch. Finally, Sunday at 1am, he was "relieved" and I'm sorry for the description, but it was about the size of a baseball if not bigger. He had much bleeding and pain, but we could tell that he was starting to feel better already. We thought Sunday would be better, but in the middle of church, he started to cramp again and when we got home, we started full-out screaming again. He bled a lot yesterday, but by last evening, was a much happier child.
We are very unsure what to do next or where to go now. Everyone tries to help and bless you all- but trust us- we've tried! Yes, he's on the Miralax. Yes, we've tried the high fiber. And, yes, we've tried to think of everything we possibly can to help him through this. And, I think the change in his schedule has thrown him off a little bit, but there was no signs that he was struggling until Friday evening.
He had his last surgery in Oct. 2007 and it was an experimental surgery, one that they told us might have to be repeated a few times should a situation like this "ruin" what was done. Another surgery was suggested to us that was much more invasive and we did not elect for it, hoping that the experimental surgery would be successful (and it did seem to be). We thought we might be on the downhill, and are hoping this is just a minor setback, but my is it frustrating to be at the same place we were a year ago.
So, now, we're just asking for prayer for guidance for us & comfort for him. Thank you!
Here he is with a black eye he's been sporting all week! Ah. . . . boys!
