A HUGE MeltDown

I don't want to make light of this at all OR to belittle it in any way. Zach had a melt down tonight that surpassed some of his others. It started on the way home when he was grouchy about school and stuff (had a sub, didn't like what he did). He was also mad at me for not letting him order books from book orders that were due to his teacher today. Somehow in his mind (my friends will know where he gets this!), he thought that he just HAD to order new books! I told him that since I was a teacher too, I could order those books for him, plus he'd get "points" that he could use to buy other books. He still didn't want that because he wanted to order with his class. It wouldn't be fair if he couldn't do that. I just didn't want to write out a check. I always just pay online with my debit card. (yes, a bit lazy!) So, we went from a rough day at school for whatever reason to an even worse time by the time we got home. I don't even remember what in the world set it off, but he was sassy or something to me and I threw his book orders away telling him "NO MORE OF THAT!"

From there, Zachary proceeded to go on a rampage (seriously speaking here) and attack me in every since. He was like a little terror-child the way his eyes bulged and were just grueling on me as he tried to rip me apart with his fingernails! I tried holding him in the time-out corner, and tried to even restrain him, but I am only about twice the weight of him now that he's about 50 pounds and I'll be honest- I don't have much for muscles anymore. I could no more than plunk him down on his rear end and walk out of the room only to have him attack me from the back. He was hitting, pinching, scratching, and trying to bite! His face was just read with anger and words made NO sense through his awful screams! It was a temper tantrum at its finest!

And, like I said, I really hate to joke about it. I know exactly where he got this temper and I understand fully his frustration. Ah. . . . and so does my mother! :) I see the terror that I was as a little girl shining right through, but I think it is a matter of when he is literally exhausted and not thinking at his fullest. I don't want to make excuses, but we've had a LONG week and he hates waking up early for school. I forgot his allergy medicines this morning, so I'm sure he was miserable also, but I won't take the full blame for his outburst. I'm wondering if we should look into getting anger management for him or therapy. Is this normal 6 year old behavior or something I should be more concerned about? I mean, he's almost getting where I can't control or restrain him when he gets abusive AND he's only going to get worse! I need suggestions soooooo much!

In an effort to not have a boring post without pictures, and as a tad bit of a repeat from yesterday, I've been too lazy to upload more pictures, so here are some from my mom's camera that JUST got uploaded the other day! Wow! She never had cleaned off her memory card!

These pictures look like they were at Christmas because sadly, I'm pretty sure that was the last time we saw some of these folks.

And, I don't want you to think that I've forgotten about the special-ness of today, but I'm too exhausted to do a proper tribute right now. I am so thankful and blessed to be living where I am, in a country that fights for our freedoms and enjoys many freedoms that we sadly take for granted. God Bless America!
